Washing your dog isn’t the most glamorous thing in the world but we all know that it has to happen from time to time. Mud bathing, poop rolling, fishy pond swimming…the list goes on! Soapy Tails elevates your grooming game with sustainable materials, excellent scents, and dog specific products.
About Soapy Tails:
Based out of California, Soapy Tails is the dirty dog busting brand from Soap Cauldron. The company was founded in 1999 with the idea of creating soaps with natural ingredients for a gentle and soothing wash.
Their products use locally sourced ingredients and packaging to minimize their carbon footprint and support other local businesses. Get back to the basics of health and hygiene with their beautifully crafted soaps and salves designed just for your dog! (Also check out their excellent people brand, the Three Sisters Apothecary.)
About the Product:
One of the best things about Soapy Tails, in my opinion, is that they make soap tailored to your dog. I have a wiry haired pup and he fluffs up like crazy after a bath! These soaps are designed with your dog’s coat in mind. They have bars specifically for coats like:
- Silky
- Wiry
- Wrinkled
- Sensitive
- Curly and Corded
- Short and Smooth
- Combination
But if you don’t want or need a specific coat type try any of them or their All Coat Types bar. Plus, each type has its own unique scent, like Lavender and Eucalyptus and Citrus and Mint, that will make you want to just burrow into your dog’s fur!
Plus, all of their soaps are:
- 100% Biodegradable
- Paraben & Synthetics Free
- Use Pure Essential Oils
- Sodium Laureth/Lauryl Sulfate Free
- Free from artificial colorants and synthetic ingredients
- Phosphate & Phthalate Free
How It Works:
Instead of dealing with plastic bottles full of messy dog shampoo, Soapy Tails uses a shampoo bar that is designed specifically for your dog’s coat type. This reduces waste, is easier to store, and works just as well, if not better, than commercial dog shampoo.
I found the bar lathered up really well and made it super easy to get my dog’s whole body washed quickly, which is important for me since Peanut does NOT like bath time!
They also have a Sleek and Shine Coat Tamer, which is great if your dog has fluffy hair like mine, and a Soothing Pad and Nose balm for protecting their most delicate skin from becoming dry and cracked.
What We Like:
First off, I love this company! Their packaging is beautiful and sustainable, their product is excellent, and they are really wonderful people working to create a healthier future. But the main reason Soapy Tails has won me over is definitely the ingredients they use.
Their products are full of things like avocado oil, hemp oil, vitamin E, and pure essential oils. They are all natural, healing, and gentle. I feel totally confident using these on my dog and on myself as well!
What We Would Change:
Being a small, family owned business has plenty of upsides. The products are handmade in small batches with only the best ingredients. You pay for what you get, and what you get is quality.
Yes, buying artisan soap is pricier than heading to the drugstore and buying off of the clearance rack, but you are supporting local businesses and communities when you buy a better product. Plus, you will just enjoy it more, trust me.
Overall Impressions:
Soapy Tails has definitely won me over in the dog grooming department, as well as for my own skincare. You can’t argue with a simple, well made product and that is what you get from this company.
